Solve is one of the most established platforms in this space, and if you compare the two tools honestly they overlap less than their category labels suggest.
What each one is
Solve Intelligence describes its product as AI patent drafting and prosecution software: drafting, office action responses, claim charting, invalidity, infringement detection, FTO reviews, and portfolio analysis in a cloud platform. It says it serves the world's top law firms and more than 700 in-house teams and firms. Its center of gravity is the prosecution document: the application you draft, the response you file.
FlowLeap is an agent workspace. A desktop app for macOS and Windows built on a VS Code fork, whose agent searches USPTO and EPO patent data plus scientific literature and links every conclusion back to the passages that support it. Its center of gravity is the matter: the research, analysis, and drafts that accumulate as files in a folder you own.
Where Solve is strong
A firm whose bottleneck is drafting throughput, that wants a polished, browser-based environment adopted across many attorneys, with the vendor handling everything including the AI usage, is describing Solve's product. Its scale claim is real social proof for that buying decision.
Where FlowLeap differs
The agent runs the loop. You describe the question in plain language; the agent performs the searches, reads the documents, and assembles the analysis with its sources attached. It never invents patent numbers or claim text.
Files over records. Matters are directories on your machine. Version them, archive them, move them; nothing is locked in a vendor account.
Your model key, no meter. Bring a supported provider key on Day 1, pay that provider directly, and FlowLeap adds no credits, markup, or second meter. The exceptions run in the open: exactly three limited features use FlowLeap's own model accounts, disclosed feature by feature on a public data-handling page.
Works inside your harness too. If your team already runs Claude Code or Cursor, flowleap mcp puts every FlowLeap patent tool into it as a local MCP server.
A price you can read. One flat plan at $39/month or $199/year after a 7-day trial. As of August 2026, Solve's pricing is not published; the path is a demo.

Some firms will end up with both: a drafting suite and an agent workspace are different jobs. Test with one real matter and judge the work product.
