What each one is
Patlytics is a cloud IP platform. Its own framing is "purpose-built for IP work": drafting, infringement detection with claim charts, invalidity and FTO analysis, and office action response, all in one web application. Its agent surface, Patlytics Agent, is a chat interface with slash commands that the company says is powered by 150+ skills, grounded in 145M patents and 40M+ case law records. It is marketed to in-house IP counsel, R&D teams, and law firms.
FlowLeap is a desktop agent workspace. It is an app for macOS and Windows built on a VS Code fork; the agent searches USPTO and EPO patent data plus scientific literature, and every cited document comes from a real search, with conclusions linking back to the passages that support them. Your matters live as plain files on your machine.
Where Patlytics is strong
If your team wants the full IP lifecycle in a browser, with litigation analytics next to prosecution, and prefers a managed cloud platform with enterprise onboarding, Patlytics is built for exactly that. A large in-house department standardizing on one vendor across litigation and portfolio strategy is Patlytics' home turf.
Where FlowLeap differs
Your files, your machine. FlowLeap matters are folders and files you own, not records in a vendor database. When an engagement ends, the work product is already on your disk.
Checkable citations as the core contract. The agent never invents patent numbers or claim text; a conclusion links to the search results and passages behind it, so you can verify before your name goes on anything.
Your model, your bill. You bring a supported provider key on Day 1 and pay that provider directly; FlowLeap adds no credits, no token markup, and no second usage meter. The exceptions are named in public: exactly three limited features run on FlowLeap's own model accounts, listed with a feature-by-feature data-handling page.
Open where you already work. flowleap mcp is a local MCP server that puts every FlowLeap patent tool into Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or any MCP client, so the same patent data serves whatever harness your team runs.
